  • Important Distinctions: It is crucial to verify if a stone is only heat-treated (which is widely accepted) or if it has undergone beryllium diffusion or lead-glass filling. The latter treatments artificially inject foreign elements or fillers into lower-grade, opaque rough and drastically lower the gem's value.
