Amethyst 1.6CT

purple amethyst is a natural, unheated quartz that gets its signature color from iron impurities and natural irradiation. Unlike heat-treated varieties (which turn yellow-orange into citrine) or irradiated stones, untreated amethysts retain their genuine, often richly varied purple hues.

Key Characteristics & Value

  • Color: Ranging from light pastel "Rose de France" to deep, royal violet or dark purple.
  • Pricing: Generally retails between $80 and $180 per carat depending on the color depth, clarity, and cut.
  • Testing: Untreated stones are heavily favored by collectors and crystal healers. GIA and IGI laboratory reports are usually required to officially certify a stone as "unheated" or "untreated".

Sourcing & Uses

  • Shapes & Cuts: Readily available in standard cuts, free-form loose stones, and raw, unpolished crystal clusters.
  • Popularity: Commonly set in sterling silver or gold for rings, pendants, and wire-wrapped jewelry.
