• Color: Renders in a stunning spectrum from vivid, bright green to a deep forest green. In larger sizes, it can appear almost black.
• Hardness: Measures 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, making it softer than many other gems.
• Clarity: Usually eye-clean, offering high transparency without many internal inclusions. 

• Mining Origins: Most gem-quality chrome diopside is sourced from the Inagli region of Eastern Siberia, Russia (often earning it the trade name "Russian Emerald"), with smaller deposits found in Pakistan and Brazil.

• Settings: Best suited for earrings, pendants, and brooches. If used in a ring, protective settings (like a bezel) are highly recommended.
