• Primary Origins: Most Afghan zircons are mined in the rugged, mineral-rich regions of Badakhshan and Kunar. 
• Colors: They primarily occur in stunning, gemmy red, brownish-red, and deep brown colors. Rare, highly transparent blue zircons can also be found, though they are less common. 
• Physical Traits: Afghan zircons are often found as beautifully terminated, sharp, double-pyramidal tetragonal crystals. Many raw specimens from these regions also exhibit distinct fluorescence under short-wave ultraviolet light.
