Origins & History
Prehnite was first discovered at the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. In 1788, it was named by German geologist Abraham Gottlieb Werner in honor of Dutch military Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, making it one of the first minerals ever named after a specific person.
