Chrome diopside is a vibrant, natural green gemstone variety of the mineral diopside. Colored by trace amounts of chromium, it is celebrated for a rich, forest-green hue that rivals emeralds and tsavorite. It is primarily sourced from Eastern Siberia, Russia. 

• Color & Brilliance: It features a deep, vivid green. Due to its high refractive index, it has exceptional sparkle and brilliance.
• Affordability: It serves as a popular, budget-friendly alternative to emeralds (often earning the nickname "Russian Emerald").
• Size Limitations: Stones are typically under 2 to 3 carats. In larger sizes, the high chromium content makes the stones appear too dark or almost completely black. 

• Composition: Calcium magnesium silicate
• Hardness: 5.5 - 6.5 on the Mohs scale
• Treatments: Almost entirely untreated. Its natural, deep color is exactly as it comes out of the ground.
• Durability Warning: With a moderate hardness, it is softer than many traditional jewelry stones. It is highly recommended for earrings, pendants, or rings with protective bezel settings.
