Green Epidote From Skardu Pakistan

Green epidote is a calcium-aluminum-iron silicate mineral known for its distinctive pistachio-green to deep forest-green color, which stems from its iron content. Ranking 6.0 to 7.0 on the Mohs hardness scale, it typically forms slender, striated prisms or interconnected crystal sprays.

Key Characteristics
  • Formula: Ca₂(Al, Fe)₃(SiO₄)₃(OH)
  • Luster: Vitreous (glassy)
  • Crystal System: Monoclinic
  • Pleochroism: Strongly displays different colors (usually green, yellow, and dark brown) as the crystal is rotated
Origins and Uses
Epidote forms primarily in metamorphic environments and hydrothermal zones. Significant deposits are found in Austria, Brazil, Italy, Pakistan, and the United States (including Connecticut, Virginia, and Alaska). While most specimens are kept as raw mineral specimens for collectors, highly transparent and deep-green stones are sometimes faceted into gemstones for jewelry.
Metaphysical Properties
In crystal healing, green epidote is closely associated with the heart chakra and is used for emotional healing, attracting abundance, and boosting personal growth.
