Green Amethyst, officially known as Prasiolite, is a rare green variety of quartz. Because natural prasiolite is exceedingly rare, most green amethyst on the market is created by gently heat-treating purple amethyst or yellow citrine to ~ 500° C. This process alters the iron within the crystal, resulting in a beautiful mint to olive-green hue.
