Colombian emeralds

Colombian emeralds are globally prized for their vivid, pure green color and exceptional inner glow, driven by trace amounts of chromium and vanadium with very little iron. Mined primarily in historic regions like Muzo, Chivor, and Coscuez, they are widely considered the finest emeralds in the world. 

Because they form in rare sedimentary deposits rather than metamorphic rock, they exhibit higher purity and intense color saturation. Notable characteristics of these stones include: 

• Color: Pure, vibrant green, sometimes with a soft bluish undertone (particularly from Chivor).
• Jardin: Natural internal inclusions that resemble a "garden," which are accepted as authentic signs of natural origin.
• Treatments: Most are lightly oiled to enhance clarity, which is a universally accepted industry practice for emeralds.
