Persian Turquoise 1.93 CT

Persian turquoise is the most-prized turquoise variety globally, renowned for its pure, intense "robin's egg" or sky-blue color and lack of veining. Primarily sourced from the ancient mines in Neyshabur, Iran, this stone is valued for its historical and cultural significance as a royal talisman.

Key Characteristics & History
  • Color: Sets the global standard for the ideal turquoise color—an even, opaque, intense medium blue with a smooth texture.
  • Origin: Mined for over 2,000 years in the Khorasan province of Iran. Historically, it was traded along the Silk Road and brought to Europe via Turkey, which is how it got the French misnomer "turquoise".
  • Symbolism: In ancient Persia, the stone was called "pirouzeh" (meaning victory) and later "firouzeh", and was used to adorn palaces, crowns, and daggers to symbolize heaven on earth, protection, and prosperity.
  • Firoozeh Koobi: Persian artisans use this traditional technique of inlaying tiny, crushed turquoise stones into copper or brass objects to create stunning mosaics.
